Market Weighton is situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire on the main trunk road A1079 between York and Hull. It is a small market town on the edge of the hilly Yorkshire Wolds. The area is mainly agricultural and the surrounding villages are either on the flat vale of York or on the surrounding hills. It is 20 miles East of York and 20 miles North West of Hull.
